Admit it people…we all have those artists that we think we should like, but just don’t get!  Let us know some of those universally loved bands/artists that you just can’t stand!  You never know, somebody might change your mind…

The Beatles. I know they are important as a band but just never liked them that much.

Convince me otherwise

@bennyk That certainly is controversial!  I’m with you a bit for the earlier stuff, great pop music but not really my bag.  I wasn’t alive during the Beatle mania years though, maybe I’d feel differently if I was?  Surely you’ve gotta appreciate some of the stuff from Rubber Soul onwards though?  Some ground-breaking production and interesting songs in their later work for sure.

@pauloripp I will definitely give some later albums a go as I know they are loved for a reason.

Thanks for the tip!

I would say Queen…Musical theatre played by a rock band.  Just leaves me cold.

@pauloripp have to agree. I like small sections of songs but agree it’s a bit hammy in sections.

@bennyk I appreciate the originality but I just can’t seem to enjoy it!

David Bowie, I can’t stand him. I know I should and so many people love him, but I just can’t bring myself to.

@bdhatcher some select tunes “Let’s Dance” “Heroes” “I’m afraid of Americans” do it for me. I would say his back catalogue is so varied you will find something if you persevere.

@bennyk always particularly liked Man Who Sold the World for some reason… though something that always stuck with me about Bowie was learning some of his his tunes were written by cutting random newspapers up and mashing the words… 😂 introducing chaos into the one area of a tune that’s usually so structured.

@bdhatcher What’s stopping you liking him?  I’ve never been a big Bowie nut like some people are, but I agree with BennyK, he evolved so much throughout his career there is bound to be something in there you’ll like.

@pauloripp  I’ve just never been drawn to him. Would you suggest I give an album a go? If so which one?

@bdhatcher Depends what you’re into really.  Maybe Ziggy Stardust to start?  Everything from the seventies sounded good!

Not a dislike per se, but an I don’t get the love – Nick Cave. I’ve been slagged off by many people for this opinion! I know I should like it, just for some reason doesn’t connect – maybe one day it will!

@henryrollinshoover I’ve always really liked the song he did with Kylie Minogue.  That album ‘Murder Ballads’ is definitely one to check out.  But yeah…I’ve never been as big a fan as I think I should be, so I know where you’re coming from!

@henryrollinshoover I’ve never really done the journey with his stuff. But I do like some of the work he’s done in Film. One that pops into my mind is the score for Assassination of Jessie James. Subtle, solo violin and honky piano if I remember rightly.
