A question for anyone here who drums – who’s your favourite???
I have a few faves but top are Jim White from The Dirty Three, Jerry Nolan from The New York Dolls, and Hal Blaine from pretty much every song in the 1960s – all different but all great!
I’m not a drummer, but I’ll definitely throw Jay Bellerose and Jim Keltner into the mix here. Love everything Jay Bellerose has done with T-Bone Burnett etc, and Jim Keltner with Ry Cooder and many more! Both very musical, classy and tasteful players. Nobody better for those laid back americana grooves in my opinion.

My favourites are John Bonham, Nate Smith, Steve Gadd and Steve Jordan. To name but a few. Not such a fan of the chopsters. I’m in to drummers who can achieve a tasty pocket!
