I’m Chris. I am 57 years old. I have recently started to write, create, produce and release my own music. I play a few instruments. I have musical tastes that range from ska/reggae to 70s stuff. I am a massive ELO fan.
Most of my stuff has a reggae/ska sound to it.

@erudition Hi Chris, who you into with the Ska & Reggae? I grow up around it, my dad was a Ska & Reggae DJ. He DJ’d around Maidstone in Kent for years, mainly vinyl. Saying that I mainly listen to heavy metal and rock but in recent years I’ve become a bit of a collector of 60/70’s Ska & Reggae. Desmond Dekker is my go to at the moment.

I hit my teens around 1979/1980. The ska revival was in full swing. I was heavily influenced by 2-tone music and bands like The Specials, Selecter, The Beat, Madness, Bad Manners, UB40. We formed a band at school (The Undertakers). Great times. As I got older I started to listen to more 60s Ska like The Pioneers, The Melodians etc..

@erudition two tone isn’t my bag but got to respect what those bands did for ska in the late 70’s early 80’s.

The Undertakers is a great name for a band, do you guys still keep in touch?

@bdhatcher thanks for that. I still know how to contact one other ex undertaker, but he lives at the other end of the country now.

@erudition you should try and get it going again. I’d be interested in hearing some of it.

@bdhatcher it’s a nice thought, but I have only spoken to him (the bassist) once in 43 years. I have no idea where to find the saxophonist, keys man or drummer. I just play everything myself these days. I don’t know any other ska loving musicians. There is just a huge majority of rock enthusiasts everywhere.
